Book Review: The Complete Guide to Game Development, Art and Design
The book has an attractive cover...yes I know, shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The first part of the book is rather disappointing already: the introduction and its brief history of Games are lengthy paragraphs. I would have preferred a chronological chart of events with graphics to help along.
The author should take note that people who would be interested in this book are people who play games and who likes to draw games or want to know more about game programming industry. Perhaps only a handful of people are good in writing and would want to know about game script writing. Such lengthy paragraphs of text just don't appeal to people like me, who prefers a visual presentation of information.
Nevertheless, the book covers a whole lot of subtopics within the game design and development processes. It also does provide lots of colourful pictures. One just have to have a little more patience to go through the text on the sections that he is interested in, and skip the rest to keep interest on the book. :P
